1) not building a niche
If you have a list, the list of general demographics, the more difficult it is to sell the list (not that your purpose?). For example, if you have a list of animal-lovers, perhaps even farmers, environmental activists, nature walkers and people who simply just enjoy animal movies. So, if you try to mail list, what do you do e-mails? Anything you e-mails are not a strong fit for the entire list, only a part of the list. Error correction: Sealing your list or multiple lists, one for each type of animal lovers.

It is easy when you first start a list to think more about building a list and visitors to the list than to think about the people on the list.
